Meet Jackie Aina ($833k /month in brand sales)
Meet Jackie Aina - a Nigerian-American beauty influencer from Los Angeles who rose to fame in 2008 creating YouTube videos as a US army reserve.
At the time, she shared simple makeup tutorials and had a small group of dedicated fans. Now, Jackie has accumulated millions of followers across all major social channels.
Quickly after attracting the spotlight, Jackie was offered lots of brand deals and has teamed up for makeup collaborations with Anastasia Beverly Hills and Too Faced.
As an advocate for black representation, Jackie believed that more brands need to be more inclusive towards black people and wanted to promote more black-owned brands.
She struggled to find authentic brands that strongly support causes such as diversity.
Let’s break it down:
Who? Jackie Aina
Problem: Frustrated with collaborations as she was unable to find products to promote that represented diversity and the black community.
Solution: Launched her own fragrance and lifestyle brand, FORVR Mood that provides luxury self-care to black women at an affordable price.
Did it work? Yep! Jackie now generates approximately $833k per month from her brand.
Jackie wanted more brands to put action behind the words that they say they’re doing online.
Unhappy with the situation, she made the leap to entrepreneurship and re-wrote the narrative with the hopes of setting an example for other beauty brands.
Jackie has gone on to win multiple awards for advocating for black representation and is best known for creating change in the multi-billion dollar industry.
Speaking to Glossy Magazine recently, Jackie said she is:
“This isn’t the only brand I want to launch. I think it’s important to have a well-rounded portfolio of companies. I’m probably going to retire from beauty collabs. When you work on a collaboration, you’re basically giving the brand access to something you’ve created..”
Jackie is a real example of a self-made entrepreneur having self-funded her brand right from the beginning and took ownership of what she was promoting.
She doesn’t need approval from anybody and lives her life on her terms, supporting causes she’s truly passionate about.
